Northamptonshire ALC Asset Mapping Project (AMP)

Overview

This guide is designed to help local councils within Northamptonshire record local assets onto a map using Parish Online for the Northamptonshire ALC Asset Mapping Project.




Please note: if you've signed up and your email states 30 day trial instead of the 6 months free, this is just an issue with our email templates. Rest assured you have the 30 day trial AND then the 6 month free access.

Getting Access

Existing Parish Online users

If you already have Parish Online then you can log in and get started straight away. If you're having trouble accessing your account, please contact support@parish-online.co.uk..


New users

If you haven't used Parish Online before then please follow these instructions:

  1. Go towww.parish-online.co.uk/sign-up
  2. Search for your parish nameand click the matching result.
  3. Click the 'Start a free trial' yellow box option.
  4. You'll be given a pricing summary. Enter the 'northantsamp' discount codeto get your free 6 months. The price will set to £0. Click 'Next'.
  5. Enter yourpersonal detailsand click 'Next'
  6. Enter yourcouncil's detailsand click 'Next'
  7. If you know yourPSGA licence number, enter it now, if not, click 'I don't know our PSGA number' and click 'Next'
  8. Do the same for theAPGB. (if you're unsure about these agreements, pleaseread this article).
  9. Read and accept the termsand click 'Next'
  10. Type in a passwordyou want to use for your Parish Online account and click 'Next'
  11. Read the summary and click 'Submit'

Wait for an email to arrive that contains your username and details for logging in.



Adding assets

Once you're logged into Parish Online, the first thing to do is to find the AMP layer. You'll find this in the Layer Control under an expandable collection called 'Asset Mapping Project (AMP)'


  1. Click the Collection title to expand the Collection, then click on the title of the layer, highlighted in red below.
  2. When you hover over the tick marker to the right of the layer it'll turn into a cog icon. Click this to open the layer options.
  3. Click 'Add Feature'
  4. Zoom into the position on the map where you want to place a marker. Single-click on the map.
  5. In the left-hand panel, enter as much information as you can about the asset then click 'Save'





Editing assets

You can edit previously entered records to make position or attribute changes.

  1. Click on the record on the map.
  2. In the left-hand panel, select "Asset Mapping Project" if it asks you to clarify what you clicked on.
  3. Click the edit icon "a pencil symbol"
  4. You can then make changes to the position by clicking on a new position on the map, and changing the attribution in the left-hand panel.
  5. Click Save to commit your changes.



 

Deleting assets

To delete an asset:

  1. Click on the record on the map.
  2. In the left-hand panel, select "Asset Mapping Project" if it asks you to clarify what you clicked on.
  3. Click the delete icon "a rubbish bin symbol"
  4. It will ask you to confirm the deletion.



Note: Deletions are permanent and cannot be retrieved. Only delete an asset record if you're absolutely sure it's the right thing to do.



Adding photos and documents to an asset record

To upload a photo or document to a record:

  1. Click on the record on the map.
  2. In the left-hand panel, select "Asset Mapping Project" if it asks you to clarify what you clicked on.
  3. Expand the 'Attachments' section in the left-hand panel.
  4. Click 'Add Attachment'
  5. Find the file on your computer, phone or tablet and click 'Open'.
