Importing contacts into your mail account

Overview

This tutorial describes how to import contacts into your gov.uk mail hosted by Parish Online.

Note that this does not cover importing contacts into 3rd party applications such as Outlook or Apple Mail. For tutorials on that, please do a web search for the latest guidance from the software provider.

Method - Bulk Import

You will need a file in one of the following formats:
  1. CSV
  2. LDIF
  3. VCF
The latter (VCF) is a common format for transferring contacts. CSV is a useful format as you can create them in Spreadsheet or Notepad software easily.
  1. Log into your Parish Online gov.uk email portal
  2. Click the Contacts icon in the left-hand panel
  3. Click the "three vertical dots" menu button
  4. Click Import
  5. Select Local File
  6. Browse your computer to find the file
  7. Click Open
  8. Follow the steps through to match the headings for each part of the file, e.g. first name should match first name etc.
  9. Click Next through the process
Your contacts will be imported.
