Hyperlinks can be added to columns within a Map Layer. This makes it easier for the user of the data to find information and link off to other resources.
To get to the Hyperlink configuration:
There are three types of hyperlink configuration:
This simply turns whatever value is stored in a column into a hyperlink. Use this if the value in the column is already a hyperlink.
You should only use this option if the value in the column is already a hyperlink, e.g. "https://www.geoxphere.com". Otherwise it won't create a valid link.
The only options available here are to add a Hyperlink Title which will display the text you enter as a hyperlink instead of the value of the column. For example, you could put in a title of "Click to go to website" which will prompt the user to click the link.
This allows you to set a single hyperlink that will be used no matter the information in the layer.
Allows you to construct a hyperlink based on a combination of fixed text you enter and dynamic content from columns.
Dynamic hyperlinks allow you to link different pages (of the same website) to all polygons and points in that layer if they have a classification number.
This means for each polygon (for example, for Battlefields or Listed Buildings) there can be a hyperlink leading to that area’s specific page.
For example, if the column value was "1436044", you could construct a hyperlink of:
https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/#colval#
#colval# is the code for the value in the column.
When the user clicked on that link, it would go to:
https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1436044
A title to the hyperlink can also be added, just as in the Fixed configuration.
The "Insert Value from Column" drop-down allows you to input the codes from other colum
