Today I wanted to measure the area of an object (West Sedgemoor actually).  So I quickly drew a polygon around it using the Annotate menu. 

Then I clicked the Measure menu and selected Area and nothing happened.  I had then to redraw the area to get the area (about 1250 Ha).  Am I missing something or must I try and remember always to click measure before drawing an annotation rather than after. 

Had I done it properly by creating a permanent layer  first and then drawn West Sedgemoor, the area would be there in the sidebar.  Should I request they do the same with annotations?
